Successful Field Trip to Space Centers!
Dr. Santhosh Seelan and his SpSt 581 Field Visits to Space Centers class recently returned from an 11-day trip along the southern United States to visit various NASA facilities. They visited the following facilities during their trip: NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; NASA Stennis Space Center in New Orleans, LA; the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL and NASA Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL. They also visited with students and alumni at events along the way.
They are pictured here at the Neutral Buoyancy Lab at the Johnson Space Center. The first person on the left is Dr. Kamlesh (Kam) Lulla, Director University Research, Collaborations and Partnership Office, who directed their tour at JSC. The last person on the left (back row) is Dr. Dom Del’Rossa, NRL Facility Manager.

At NASA Johnson Space Center they were allowed to tour the Shuttle Crawler / Transporter. Photos were only allowed at the top level where they are about three stories off the ground, with winds at 30 knots. The following photo is a graphic of the Crawler/Transporter in operation.
