The Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) Education and Public Outreach
(E/PO) Team is currently looking for a Junior Education and Outreach
Coordinator. The candidate will be hired as a contractor through ADNET
Systems Inc. and will work under the supervision of the Senior Outreach
coordinator and mission project scientist.
The Junior Education and Outreach coordinator will support the
implementation of SDO local, regional and national E/PO programs.
Develop resources that provide content and age appropriate activities
for use in classroom settings. Disseminate developed content through
teacher professional development workhops and classroom visits.
Actively participate in the planning, organizing and conducting of
informal E/PO events (e.g. Family Science Night, The Sunday Experiment,
community events at science centers, museums and other venues).
Collaborate with SDO team members and E/PO partners to write, design,
construct and edit materials for a variety of mediums.
Candidate will be expected to maintain a working knowledge of current
practices in education research. Represent the SDO mission and its E/PO
program at professional conferences, meetings, and committees as
assigned. Candidate will be an independently motivated self-starter
able to work equally well individually or with other on a team.
Candidate must be be able to complete and juggle multiple projects and
responsibilities while meeting strict deadlines.
