Space Suit Testing at NASA Ames
Space Studies faculty member Pablo de León and graduate students Lindsay Anderson and Tiffany Swarmer, traveled to NASA Ames Research Center in mid-February to test the The Human Spaceflight Laboratory’s DL/H-1 space suit in the centrifuge. The DL/H-1 is an Intravehicular Activity Suit (IVA) with emergency pressurization capabilities for any emergency Extravehicular Activity (EVA). The suit was tested at G-loads expected during a Space-X launch and reached a max G load of around 5 Gs. The suit performed very well and is moving into further stages of testing soon.
