Space Studies Hosts Young Scientists and Engineers Academy
On July 30th, Space Studies hosted one day of the Young Scientists and Engineers Academy organized by the Dakota Science Center. Elementary and middle school students participated in either a morning or afternoon session which involved tours of the space suit laboratory, electric rover, and spacecraft simulators. Students were also able to participate in NASA’s Digital Learning Network and teleconference with a scientist at Johnson Space Center. Activities included building robot hands and designing space suits for “marshmallow astronauts.” This event was coordinated by Caitlin Nolby of the North Dakota Space Grant Consortium.
