Paula Crock Selected as Crew Member at MDRS
UND Space Studies graduate student Paula Crock has been selected as a crew member for the upcoming season at Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS). She and 4 other crewmembers will be at the Mars analog in the high desert of Utah this December 1 – 16 doing research while living in a simulated Martian station environment. Mars analog stations like MDRS consist of a prototype Martian habitat, greenhouse, observatory and space suits for crewmember EVA and are used as laboratories or test beds for studying how to live and conduct scientific research on Mars. Paula will be joining the other crew members in EVA, both conducting and participating in research and in daily reports to the Mission Support Team back on “Earth.” She will be blogging during her experience at MDRS which you can follow at paulacrock.com.
