Public SpaceX ISS Re-supply Mission Launch Party
The Department of Space Studies will be hosting a SpaceX ISS Re-supply Mission Launch party to watch live streaming coverage of the Falcon 9 launch Sunday, October 7. This is the first operational ISS re-supply mission launched using a commercial partner, SpaceX.
The event will be held at the Clifford Hall Auditorium on the second floor, room 210. Signs will be posted to guide the public to the lecture hall. The event starts at 5 p.m. with a talk given by Space Studies graduate student Annie Wargetz on current ISS research. At 6 p.m., Space Studies graduate student Josh Berk will present a talk on the future of commercial spaceflight. Both talks seek to prove that despite the retirement of the Shuttle fleet, NASA is alive and thriving.
The launch will take place at 7:34 p.m. and will be viewed in the lecture hall via live streaming coverage. Concessions and t-shirts will be on sale during the entire event and cash or check will be accepted. The proceeds from the sale benefit the UND Observatory in their quest to upgrade the equipment and facilities which bring the stars closer to Grand Forks and the Upper Midwest region.
Clifford Hall is located at the Southeast corner of University Avenue and 42nd Street on the west edge of the UND campus. For more information, please contact Dr. Paul Hardersen at email@example.com or call
