Mobile Access for Campus Connection Announced
Announcing mobile access for CampusConnection
Students will be arriving at North Dakota campuses this fall with a record number of smartphones, iPads, and other mobile devices. Anytime, anywhere access has truly become the norm for students and instructors. In response to this exploding trend, CampusConnection – the student system of the North Dakota University System – is now available for mobile access across the University System. The mobile link is https://m.cnd.ndus.edu.
Through this link, students can use their iPhones, iPads, Androids and most other mobile devices to view their class schedule, exam schedule (at institutions where the exam schedule is used), and grades. The secure, easy-to-use interface also provides advisor information, waitlist status, and student calendars. On the financial front, students will be able to check their school bills, the status of their financial aid, and account activity.
In addition, students will be able to log on via any institution, not just their "home" institution. This will accommodate future developments, when students will be able to use their mobile device to register for classes at any North Dakota campus where they are eligible to register.
Instructors will also be able to use their smartphones to logon to their campus and check teaching schedules, exam schedules, class rosters, grade rosters, and view a list of their advisees.
Currently, most of the mobile features are "view only,' meaning students and faculty can see information, but not interact with it. Future enhancements are already being planned as the mobile environment continues to mature. But for now, users will still need to rely on web access for features such as enrolling in classes, dropping classes, accepting/declining financial aid, and so on.
While the mobile link works best with mobile devices, it can also be used with a desktop web browser. Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are recommended. Internet Explorer may provide poor results. And, the display of pages may differ depending on the device and browser that you use.
In the near future, a generic app will be available for iTunes download. This will also be provided as an update to the mobile applications in use at UND and NDSCS.
