Nelson and O'Dea Provide Shuttle Presentation at Fargo Public Library
Space Studies graduate students, Joshua Nelson and Eric O'Dea, gave a presentation to children at the Fargo Public Library as part of their "Shuttle Retirement Event".
The presentation gave an overview of the Shuttle's history, components of the shuttle, life in space (eating, sleeping, working, etc..), and future after the Shuttle. The students at the event were primarily from grades 1 - 6, and had some great questions for the presenters.
After the presentation the students used "Moon Boots" to "golf on the Moon", participated in a moon rock collecting game, made paper shuttles, and played pin the shuttle on the space station. Students received space shuttle erasers, "Astronaut Ice Cream", and more.
The presentation lasted approximately 50 minutes including both the presentation and question / answer session. Library "shuttle activities" lasted approximately another 40 minutes. WDAY News covered the event, with a 1 minute blurb during the 10 PM news on 4/25/2011.
